This amazing close knit family were such fun to photograph. We took ourselves down to the park equipped with baseball bats and bicycles ready to PLAY! I really love family portrait sessions that are about more than just standing in front of a camera looking awkward. With little kids I think the key to great photos is to get them involved in something that they really enjoy, not only do you document the things that are most important at each life stage (but quickly forgotton) but you also get to see your kids in their element, racing around. Your family laughing and playing together! What could be better than that?
I always make a plan with my clients before their shoot, get to know what their family likes to do at the weekends, what they do for fun. And then we do it! Everyone quickly forgets the camera is near, and magic happens! For me the little details and the interactions between family members are so much more interesting and important to capture and a serene shot of everyone standing still and smiling at the camera.
